Returns & Refunds Policy

At Modern Tactical Defence, we want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If something is wrong with your order, or you need to request a return, please contact us and we will assist you.
This Returns & Refunds Policy explains how returns, exchanges and refunds are handled for purchases made from Modern Tactical Defence.
Change-of-Mind Returns
If you change your mind about a purchase, you may request a return within 7 days of receiving your order.
To qualify for a change-of-mind return, the product must:
- Be unused and in its original condition;
- Be returned with its original packaging;
- Include all accessories, manuals, components and other items originally supplied with the product; and
- Be in a condition suitable for resale as a new product.
Please contact us before returning any product. Returns sent without prior authorisation may experience delays in processing.
Approved change-of-mind returns may be subject to a 20% restocking fee, calculated on the purchase price of the returned product. This fee helps cover the inspection, handling, administration and preparation required to return the product to saleable stock.
The customer is responsible for the cost of returning a change-of-mind purchase to Modern Tactical Defence.
The 20% restocking fee does not apply where a product is defective, damaged on delivery, incorrectly supplied, or where charging such a fee would be inconsistent with your rights under applicable South African consumer law.
Incorrect, Damaged or Defective Products
If you receive an incorrect, damaged or defective product, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide your order number together with details of the problem. We may also request photographs or other reasonable information to help us assess the issue.
Where a product is defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise covered by applicable consumer law, Modern Tactical Defence will handle the matter in accordance with your rights under applicable South African law.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, an appropriate remedy may include a repair, replacement or refund.
The 20% restocking fee applicable to eligible change-of-mind returns will not be charged where Modern Tactical Defence is responsible for supplying an incorrect, damaged or defective product.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Products That Cannot Normally Be Returned for Change of Mind
Certain products may not qualify for a change-of-mind return where they:
- Have been made, ordered or modified specifically to your requirements;
- Have been personalised;
- Cannot reasonably be resold for health, hygiene or safety reasons after being opened or used;
- Have deteriorated or expired;
- Have been damaged, altered, incorrectly installed or misused after delivery;
- Are missing original components, accessories or packaging; or
- Are otherwise excluded from change-of-mind returns by applicable law.
These exclusions do not remove any rights you may have if a product is defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise protected by applicable law.
Sale and Promotional Items
Products purchased on sale, promotion or at a discounted price remain subject to applicable consumer-law protections.
A reduced price does not remove your rights in relation to a defective, damaged or incorrectly supplied product.
Eligible change-of-mind returns for sale or promotional products may be subject to the same return requirements and 20% restocking fee described in this policy, subject to applicable law.
Returning a Product
Please do not send a product back without first contacting us.
Contact Modern Tactical Defence to request a return. Once your return has been approved, we will provide you with the appropriate return instructions and return destination.
Products returned without prior authorisation may experience delays in processing.
The product must be packaged securely to prevent damage while in transit.
Where the customer is responsible for return shipping, we recommend using a trackable and adequately insured delivery service.
Modern Tactical Defence cannot accept responsibility for returned parcels that are lost or damaged before they are received by us.
Where a return results from an incorrect, damaged or defective product for which Modern Tactical Defence is responsible, the appropriate return arrangements will be communicated to you.
Inspection of Returns
All returned products may be inspected once received.
For change-of-mind returns, Modern Tactical Defence may decline the return or reduce the refund where permitted by applicable law if the product:
- Has been used;
- Has been damaged after delivery;
- Is incomplete;
- Is missing accessories, components or packaging; or
- Is otherwise not in a condition reasonably suitable for resale.
Approved change-of-mind returns may be subject to the 20% restocking fee described above.
This does not affect your statutory rights regarding defective, unsafe, damaged-on-delivery or incorrectly supplied products.
Refunds
Once an approved return has been received and assessed, we will process any refund due as soon as reasonably possible.
For an eligible change-of-mind return, the refund may be reduced by the applicable 20% restocking fee and any return costs for which the customer is responsible.
Where practical, refunds will be made using the original payment method used for the purchase.
After Modern Tactical Defence has processed a refund, the time taken for the funds to appear in your account may vary depending on your bank, card issuer or payment provider.
No restocking fee will be deducted from a refund for an incorrect, damaged-on-delivery or defective product where Modern Tactical Defence is responsible, subject to applicable law.
Exchanges
Where appropriate and replacement stock is available, Modern Tactical Defence may offer an exchange instead of a refund.
If the replacement product differs in price from the original product, we will advise you of any additional amount payable or amount refundable before completing the exchange.
Products returned for a change-of-mind exchange remain subject to the eligibility requirements of this policy and may be subject to the applicable 20% restocking fee.
Order Cancellations
If you wish to cancel an order that has not yet been dispatched, please contact us as soon as possible.
If we are able to stop the order before dispatch, we will cancel it and arrange any applicable refund.
If the order has already been dispatched, it may need to be handled as a return under this policy.
Any additional cancellation or cooling-off rights provided by applicable law remain unaffected.
Delivery Damage
If your order appears to have been damaged during delivery, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible after receiving it.
Where possible, please retain the packaging and take photographs of:
- The outer packaging;
- Any visible damage to the parcel;
- The damaged product; and
- The shipping label.
This information can assist us in investigating the matter with the delivery provider and resolving your claim.
Refund Processing Time
We aim to process approved refunds promptly once the returned product has been received and assessed.
Please allow additional time for the refunded amount to appear in your account after we have processed it, as banking, card-network and payment-provider processing times are outside our control.
